Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary on Thursday called for expeditious decisions on sand and stone quarry operations in Jammu and Kashmir, including granting permissions for lifting deposited material, to facilitate the revival of customary stone quarry mining activities.
Choudhary said the government was examining issues related to quarry operations and stressed the need for a timely resolution of matters concerning extraction and transportation of mining material.
He made the remarks while chairing a meeting convened to review the revival of customary stone quarry mining activities in the Union Territory.The meeting discussed issues faced by quarry operators, the status of permissions required for mining activities and measures needed to streamline the sector.
According to an official statement, the deputy chief minister emphasized that decisions relating to sand and stone quarry operations should be taken promptly to ensure that legitimate mining activities are carried out in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
The meeting was attended by legislators representing Pampore, Lal Chowk, Sonawari, Bandipora, Baramulla and Chanapora constituencies, besides officials concerned.(KNS).
