The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced cadre allocations for candidates selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS) through the Civil Services Examination 2023. Among the 200 IPS officers chosen nationwide, two candidates from Jammu and Kashmir—Ghulam Mayadin and Abhinandan Singh—have secured positions. Mayadin has been allotted the Manipur cadre while Singh has been assigned to the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre.Earlier, the Ministry of Personnel had finalised the cadre allotment for candidates selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) through the same examination. Out of 181 IAS officers selected across the country, four are from Jammu and Kashmir.
Anmol Rathore, who secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 7, has been allotted the AGMUT cadre. Arjun Gupta, with AIR 32, also from Jammu and Kashmir, has similarly been placed in the AGMUT cadre. Two other candidates—Aparajita Aryan (AIR 381), belonging to the Scheduled Caste category, has been allotted Gujarat, while Seerat Baji (AIR 516), from the Scheduled Tribe category, will serve under the AGMUT cadre.
The successful candidates from Jammu and Kashmir are now set to begin their careers in the Indian civil services, with postings across various parts of the country, reflecting the broader national integration policy under the current cadre allocation rules.
