Jammu & Kashmir BJP President and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Sat Sharma CA, received a written reply to an unstarred question about an important public-interest issue in the Rajya Sabha regarding the allocation of funds and impact of the National Ayush Mission (NAM) in Jammu & Kashmir. The question was answered by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav.

Sat Sharma sought detailed information on the funds allocated to Jammu & Kashmir under the National Ayush Mission during the last two years, the expenditure incurred, and the impact of the scheme on healthcare access, employment generation, and promotion of traditional systems like Ayurveda, Yoga, and Unani. He also asked about future targets and initiatives for strengthening AYUSH infrastructure, especially in rural and underserved areas.

Replying on behalf of the government, the Minister informed the House that an amount of 8,577.602 lakh rupees (including Central and UT share) has been sanctioned to Jammu & Kashmir under NAM during the last two years, against which the UT Government has reported an expenditure of 5,632.32 lakh rupees.

Highlighting the impact of NAM, the Minister stated that 523 Ayush Dispensaries have been upgraded as Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (Ayush) to provide holistic wellness services. Additionally, nine Integrated Ayush Hospitals, including seven 50-bedded and two 10-bedded hospitals, have been approved, while 43 new Ayush dispensaries have been established in the Union Territory.

The Minister further informed that NAM has also contributed to employment generation, with engagement of doctors, paramedics, yoga instructors, multipurpose workers, data entry operators, and support staff to strengthen AYUSH service delivery across Jammu & Kashmir.

Sat Sharma said that these details reflect the growing importance of AYUSH systems in strengthening public healthcare in Jammu & Kashmir and reiterated the need for focused expansion of AYUSH infrastructure in rural and far-flung areas to ensure equitable access to traditional and holistic healthcare services.
