Jammu & Kashmir BJP President Sat Sharma led party delegation reached the cloudburst-affected Kishtwar on Friday and undertook a two-day visit to assess the damage and oversee relief measures.

Sat Sharma was accompanied by senior leaders, including BJP General Secretaries Baldev Singh Billawaria and Gopal Mahajan, DDC Chairperson Doda Dhanantar Singh, MLAs Shakti Parihar, Dalip Parihar, RS Pathania, Balwant Singh Mankotia, District President Ravi Parihar and several others.

Sunil Sharma, Leader of the Opposition in J&K Assembly, and MLA Shagun Parihar had already reached the site soon after the tragedy struck and were actively leading rescue efforts, which helped save many lives in the initial hours.

During his visit, Sat Sharma interacted with administrative officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police, and reviewed the ongoing rescue and relief operations. He immediately facilitated arrangements for stranded people by providing vehicles to help them reach Gulabgarh and further move to safer areas. He also held discussions with the Union Home Minister and BJP National President, briefing them about the ground situation in detail.

Assuring the victims of maximum support, Sat Sharma said that, in addition to state assistance, all possible help from the Centre and the BJP would be extended. He directed the administration to expedite the recovery of the deceased, provide urgent medical aid to the injured, and intensify relief efforts without delay. The injured have already been shifted to hospitals, while teams are continuing to provide essential support in the affected region.

Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma praised the prompt action of Sunil Sharma, Shagun Parihar, the district administration, and all agencies working tirelessly to provide relief. He expressed hope that the number of casualties would not rise further and emphasized that the administration must continue welfare measures on a war footing.

Sunil Sharma lauded the swift response of the locals, security forces, and relief agencies who worked tirelessly to save lives. He assured the affected families that the BJP stands firmly with them in this hour of grief and will continue to monitor the relief operations closely. He stressed that every possible measure will be taken to ensure rehabilitation of the victims and long-term safety of the region.

Conveying his condolences to the bereaved families, Sat Sharma prayed to the Almighty to give them strength in this hour of grief and said, “We sincerely hope such tragedies do not occur again in the future.”
