Jammu & Kashmir BJP President Sat Sharma (CA) addressed a meeting of senior party leaders of BJP Kashmir at Srinagar, wherein he asked the party leaders to vigorously promote the “Vocal for Local” campaign to strengthen the Swadeshi products in run up to the Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
J&K BJP Secretary Arif Raja, spokesperson Altaf Thakur, BJYM President Arun Prabhat, District President Anantnag Rakesh Koul, District President Bandipora Mudasir Farooq, Co-media Incharge Sajid Yousuf, and several other prominent leaders participated in the meeting.
During his address, Sat Sharma emphasized the importance of adopting Swadeshi products in line with the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the broader vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat. He asked the party leaders to actively reach out to citizens and shopkeepers to promote India-made goods under the “Vocal for Local” initiative.
Sat Sharma stressed that the Swadeshi should be embraced not out of compulsion but with pride and conviction. He termed it as the strength of our nation, the dignity of our artisans, and the self-confidence of our economy.
“I appeal to every shopkeeper in Kashmir to proudly flaunt the Local Swadeshi products and the boards as a visible symbol of our collective resolve. By consciously choosing Swadeshi, we are not only strengthening self-reliance but also supporting entrepreneurship, nurturing innovation, and reinforcing India’s economic and industrial backbone,” Sat Sharma said.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to empower artisans, workers, and the regional economy, Sat Sharma underscored the unique cultural and economic identity of Kashmir’s geo-tagged products. He cited world-renowned items such as the Kani Shawl, Kashmir Pashmina, Sozani Craft, Papier-Mâché, Walnut Wood Carving, Khatamband, Hand Knotted Carpets, and Kashmir Saffron, besides local produce like Nadru, which reflect the rich legacy of Kashmiri craftsmanship.
Sat Sharma further said that a robust local economy is the true foundation of a strong nation. He said that since 2014, the Modi government has relentlessly worked to uplift artisans, promote traditional industries, and stabilize regional economies. He stressed that, now, it is the responsibility of every citizen to become an active partner in this mission. By choosing Swadeshi, we are securing not just our livelihoods but also the nation’s self-respect and long-term prosperity, he added.
All the party leaders pledged to carry the message of Swadeshi and Atma Nirbhar Bharat to the grassroots level, ensuring greater public awareness and participation across Kashmir.
