In a forceful representation of his constituency’s aspirations, Member of Parliament for Lok Sabha Jammu, Shri Jugal Kishore Sharma, addressed the Lok Sabha today in his mother tongue, Dogri, to advocate for the urgent expansion of railway infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the session, Shri Sharma expressed his sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Railways and the Honorable Minister for the successful doubling of the railway line from Jalandhar to Jammu, noting that this critical upgrade has already begun to significantly improve regional connectivity and benefit the general public. Building on this progress, the MP raised a vital demand for the doubling of the railway line from Jammu to Katra at the earliest possible date.
Shri Sharma emphasized that with the number of pilgrims (Yatris) arriving in Katra from every corner of the country increasing daily, the current infrastructure must evolve to meet the growing demand.
He pointed out that doubling this specific stretch is essential to accommodate the rising footfall to the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi, ensuring that devotees receive the full privilege of modern rail travel. Shri Sharma further argued that this project would serve as a major catalyst for Katra’s tourism sector and provide a substantial boost to the local economy.
By speaking in Dogri, the MP underscored the cultural identity of his region while making a passionate plea to the Ministry to prioritize this doubling project to enhance the safety, comfort, and efficiency of travel for millions of citizens.
