Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday chaired a high-level security review meeting and directed the administration and security agencies to intensify anti-terror operations while strengthening security measures across the Union Territory.

During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor instructed all Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to conduct a comprehensive review of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) put in place for the safety and security of labourers from outside Jammu and Kashmir.

He also directed that employers must ensure all workers from other states and Union Territories are covered under insurance schemes. In addition, their details should be properly registered with the local police and district administration to enhance their safety and enable better coordination.

Emphasising the need for decisive action against terrorism, the Lieutenant Governor said security forces must intensify precise and high-impact anti-terror operations to neutralise terrorists and maintain peace in the region.

The meeting also reviewed the security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, with directions issued to further strengthen the security grid and ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.

Expressing concern over the recent terror attack in Kulgam, the Lieutenant Governor directed the authorities to ensure dignified last rites for the victims and provide every possible assistance to the bereaved families.

Senior civil, police and security officials attended the meeting, where the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir was reviewed and measures to enhance public safety were discussed.
