The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department delivered an impressive performance at the INDIA International Trade Exhibition (IITE) 2025, held at Maditassia Auditorium, Madurai, culminating in a significant achievement on the concluding day of the event. In recognition of its outstanding contribution towards the promotion of tourism and travel in Jammu and Kashmir and across other parts of the country, the J&K Tourism Department was conferred with an Appreciation Award by the Director, IITE.
The award highlights the department’s proactive efforts in showcasing the Union Territory’s diverse tourism potential on a national platform.
The memento was received by Mohd Rouf Rahman, JKAS, Chief Executive Officer, Kokernag, and Mr Babu Ram Tandon, JKAS, Chief Executive Officer, Bani–Basohli, in the presence of Mr Tej Pal Singh, Assistant Tourism Officer (ATO), Chennai, on the final day of the exhibition, which concluded today.
The J&K Tourism stall emerged as the second-best stall at the exhibition, securing the position just after Rajasthan, and drew widespread appreciation from visitors, tourism professionals, and stakeholders alike. The stall effectively highlighted the region’s rich tourism offerings, including leisure, adventure, pilgrimage, and offbeat destinations. The exhibition witnessed participation from around 350 parties, including Destination Management Companies (DMCs), tour operators, travel agents, and tourism stakeholders from across the country.
A large number of participants visited the J&K Tourism stall, registered with various States and Union Territories, and engaged in meaningful interactions.
Information was exchanged through pamphlets, banners, and detailed tourism brochures, paving the way for future collaborations and tourism-related activities. Officials described the participation as highly productive, result-oriented, and successful, with the event providing a valuable platform for networking, promotion, and strengthening inter-state tourism linkages.
The successful conclusion of the programme marks another milestone in J&K Tourism’s ongoing efforts to position the Union Territory as a premier tourism destination on the national stage. (KNC)
