Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, for approving the construction of 5,061 houses in Jammu and Kashmir under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G).
LG Sinha said, “Grateful to Hon’ble PM Shri @Narendramodi Ji & Hon’ble Union Minister of Rural Development, Shri @ChouhanShivraj Ji for sanctioning the construction of 5,061 houses which were damaged due to the recent natural calamities across rural areas of J&K.”
He further said that, “This approval under special project of PMAY-G will bring back safety and stability in the lives of thousands of households. A new home will enable the families to regain the economic stability significantly improving the family’s well-being.”
The sanctioned houses will be constructed in a time-bound manner, with priority given to families worst affected by the calamities. The initiative is expected to provide not only shelter but also a renewed sense of security and economic resilience to beneficiaries.
The PMAY-G scheme, launched with the vision of “Housing for All,” has been a major rural development initiative aimed at providing pucca houses with basic amenities to eligible families living in kuccha or dilapidated structures.
