The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today held a crucial meeting of its MLAs at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, under the leadership of J&K BJP President Sat Sharma, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, and BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul.
BJP MLAs and party General Secretaries attended the meeting.
Addressing the party MLAs, Sat Sharma expressed serious concern over the issues being faced by the people of Jammu, who are suffering due to the criminal neglect by the present NC-Congress alliance. We will expose their political nexus and betrayal of the public mandate by them. From budgetary discrimination to administrative inaction, their failures are being felt across every section of society, he said and added that the NC led government has effectively taken a U-turn on all the promises made with the people of Jammu & Kashmir in the 2024 Assembly election manifesto.
Highlighting the long-pending issue of daily wagers, Sharma stressed, “Delayed justice is denied justice. The Omar-led government must act immediately on the regularization and salary issues of daily wagers. BJP stands firmly with them.”
Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma expressed concern over the growing drug menace and termed it “drug terrorism” that is eating into the vitals of society. “We demand a coordinated crackdown on the drug network operating in the region. We will not allow our youth to fall prey to this slow death,” he said.
Ashok Koul, while addressing the organizational aspects, said, “The BJP is committed to responsive governance. Our MLAs will intensify field engagement even in areas not represented by us to ensure no grievance goes unheard. People are fed up with discriminatory governance, especially in matters of electricity billing, panchayat funding, and employee welfare.”
The meeting also witnessed serious discussions on issues such as exaggerated electricity bills, and amnesty in dues, disparity in the budget allocation with regards to local bodies, panchayats and municipalities as in the Area Development Plan in Panchayat was cut and the irregularities in the District CAPEX. The pending DPCs, promotions, and transfers of teachers, lecturers, and principals in the Jammu Province, was also taken up which is already done in the Kashmir Province.
It was also noted that the constituencies represented by the NC MLAs are getting the unproportionately high funds in comparison to the other constituencies, citing the example of Nowshera.
In a strategic move to increase the party’s footprint and address public grievances more effectively, BJP MLAs were allocated additional Assembly constituencies apart from the ones they currently represent. These allocations are aimed at reaching out to the people in unrepresented or neglected areas under the present Omar Abdullah-led government.
