Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, along with IGP Kashmir, DIG Central Kashmir Range, and senior officers, on Tuesday carried out an extensive inspection of security and yatri amenities across the Baltal axis for the ongoing annual Amarnath Yatra, which began on July 3.
“DGP J&K Nalin Prabhat, along with IGP Kashmir, DIG Central Kashmir Range and senior officers, conducted a security review of the ongoing yatra along the Baltal axis today. The officers later reviewed the security and pilgrim facilities at Shadipora, Manigam and Baltal yatra camps,” Kashmir Zone Police post on microblogging site X.

The DGP and other officers first reached the Baltal base camp, where they reviewed the deployment of security personnel, installation of CCTV cameras, drone surveillance, and communication systems.
They also assessed parking arrangements and facilities at yatri camps, including Shadipora and Manigam.
Speaking on-site, DGP Prabhat reiterated the importance of proactive security measures.
“We must ensure the highest level of preparedness and public safety, using advanced technology for real-time monitoring and swift threat detection,” the DGP was quoted as saying by an officer.
The DGP further directed the enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), real-time threat detection, and multi-agency coordination, including among the J&K Police, Army, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and State Disaster Response Force.
At Shadipora and Manigam, officials verified arrangements for yatris like drinking water, sanitation, medical aid, and tent accommodations.
DGP Prabhat said that ensuring the comfort of yatris was as vital as their security.
“Monitoring logistics and amenities at these camps reinforces our commitment to a safe and peaceful yatra,” he said.
Security agencies have deployed 581 CAPF companies along the yatra routes, supported by jammers, K9 units, and a multi-tier security posture along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway (NH-44).
Additionally, joint mock drills like the recent landslide simulation near Toldi Nallah have enhanced emergency readiness.
