The 2- day Lavender Festival ended today with a grand concluding ceremony here at the Sports Stadium, Government Degree College Bhaderwah.

The valedictory event witnessed the presence of the Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, Director CSIR-IIIM Jammu, Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director Agriculture Jammu, Arvinder Singh Reen, senior scientists from CSIR and other dignitaries.

A key highlight of the event was a mesmerizing cultural programme presented by local artists, featuring melodious folk songs and captivating traditional dance performances, celebrating the region's rich cultural heritage. The entire stadium was jam-packed with enthusiastic spectators, reflecting the increasing popularity and local pride associated with the lavender movement.

Addressing the gathering, DC Harvinder Singh appreciated the pioneering efforts of CSIR for promoting lavender cultivation in the region. He emphasized that Bhaderwah has now emerged as a hub for multiple lavender-based industries, including oil extraction, perfumes, cosmetics and value-added products—creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for local farmers and youth. He also shared a brief historical account of Bhaderwah, mentioning its ancient name Bhaderkashi and described it as the sacred abode of Lord Vasuki Naag, renowned for its spiritual significance and rich biodiversity.

Later, local artists, media personnel and contributors to the lavender mission were felicitated.
