Police Monday booked two criminals under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in two separate cases in the Bishnah area of Jammu and Samba districts.
Following the arrest, they were lodged at Udhampur and Kupwara district jails.
In Jammu, Police booked Vishal Sharma alias Shooterf of Khojipur, Bishanh under the PSA after obtaining formal detention orders from the District Magistrate, Jammu. He was subsequently lodged at District Jail Udhampur.
ìMultiple FIRs are already registered against Vishal Sharma in Jammu, Kathua, and Samba districts. To refrain him from indulging in criminal activities, a dossier under stringent PSA was recommended following which the District Magistrate Jammu issued a PSA warrant against him,î a Police spokesman said.
In another similar case, Police booked Mehboob Akhter of Doodla, Basohli in district Kathua, at present Bari Brahmana of district Samba under PSA after obtaining a formal detention order from the District Magistrate Samba.
He was subsequently lodged in District Jail Kupwara. Akhter is involved in 19 cases registered against him at Police Stations of Basohli, Lakhanpur, Kathua, Rajbagh, and Hiranagar of Kathua district; Samba, Bari Brahmana, and Ramgarh of Samba district; Katra Police station of Reasi district, and Gangyal Police Station of district Jammu.
ìHis repeated criminal activities had posed a serious threat to public peace and tranquillity in the district and adjoining areas,î the spokesman said.
