Jammu:The revocation of Article 370 from the erstwhile state has given a new lease of life to Valmiki community members who live on the land that was allocated to their ancestors when they shifted to Jammu from Punjab’s Gurdaspur district on the invitation of the erstwhile State Government in 1957.
This was stated by senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta while addressing a gathering after starting development work worth Rs 28 lakhs in Valmiki Colony, Ward 20 Jammu.
Kavinder Gupta said that it’s a dream come true for the people who earlier were victims of prejudice of successive governments that ruined the future of many under the garb of Article 370. “It is unbearable that political parties having a particular mentality hobnobbed for years together to dent the interests of aforesaid communities in the Union Territory. The BJP after decoding their evil intentions took revolutionary steps to satiate the desires of WPRs, Gorkhas, Valmiki Samaj and others so that justice prevails in J&K without any prejudice or bias”, he said.
The senior BJP leader asserted that ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ will now be visible on ground with the participation and share of all the sections of the society in welfare schemes and developmental projects. He asserted that it is indeed good development that the abrogation of Art 370 has brought smiles on the faces of the people of the State, barring a few, who used to consider themselves as the ‘masters’ and had no concern for common citizens but always focused on self interests.
Among those who were present include Vinay Gupta, BJP Jammu District President; Ankush Gupta, BJP Jammu District General Secretary; Narinder Gupta (Koki), Secretary BJP Jammu District; Rahul Kumar, Councillor Ward 20; Neeraj Puri, President - BJP Gandhi Nagar Mandal; Rachit Khosla, Secretary - BJP Gandhi Nagar Mandal; Sandeep Gupta, BJP District Executive Member; Ricky Gupta, Mohit Seth, Vijay Verma, Gharu Bhatti, Rinku Gill and Vijay Pal.

Later, Kavinder Gupta along with party workers listened to the 83rd episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme ‘Man ki Baat’, during his visit to Ward No 50, Channi Himmat.
