A high vigil is being maintained in Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Independence Day on Sunday to prevent any untoward incident.
The security forces are using drones for surveillance in some areas of Srinagar where the main Independence Day function will be held at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will preside over the function. The District Development Council (DDC) chairpersons will be the chief guests at the functions that will be held at district headquarters.
In Jammu, R.R. Bhatnagar, adviser to L.G., will be the chief guest at the main function, which will be held at M.A. Stadium.
To prevent any untoward incident from happening, security was reinforced in Kashmir and Jammu. Security has also been beefed up at highways, the arteries that connect north and south Kashmir to Jammu, and all commuters are being checked.
Security has also been reinforced in and around the main venues in Srinagar and Jammu where Independence Day celebrations will be held.
Sharpshooters have been deployed at all high-rise buildings in the vicinity of the main venues of the Independence functions in Srinagar and Jammu.
