Shoaib Malik, Pakistan’s all-rounder, announced hisretirement from One Day International cricket. The news came right afterPakistan played their last game of the World Cup 2019, against Bangladesh.
Malik, who is married to Indian tennis player, Sania Mirza,just played three games in the World cup in which he scored merely 8 runs.While he has decided to move on from the ODI cricket, he will still play T20cricket.Malik has played 287 ODIs for his team, scoring a total of 7534 runs,including 9 centuries and 44 half centuries. Besides, he has also picked up 158wickets during his cricketing career. “I have no regrets. But it’s just that Ihave been too flexible in my batting order. I have batted wherever the teamwanted. I have been dropped many times, I missed a few years of internationalcricket and have been around for 20 years,” Malik said. “I am disappointed tobe judged on two bad games here,” he further added, commenting on his poorperformance in the World Cup.
