The Meteorological Department (MeT) has predicted rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir over the next 24 hours, with widespread light to moderate precipitation expected in the Kashmir valley and scattered light rain in the Jammu division.
The erratic weather is expected to continue for the next two days, according to the MeT office. The weather is likely to remain generally cloudy during April 26 to 28, with the possibility of rain or snowfall in higher reaches at some places. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by strong gusty winds and hailstorms in some areas of Jammu and Kashmir during this period.
The MeT office has advised farmers to postpone spraying in orchards until May 1. Minimum temperatures remained below normal in most parts of Jammu and Kashmir, with Srinagar, the summer capital, recording a low of 7.9 degrees Celsius, which was 1.4 degrees Celsius below normal. However, the day temperatures were above normal, with Srinagar recording 1.4 degrees Celsius above normal at 22.3 degrees Celsius. Other areas like Qazigund, Pahalgam, Kokernag, Kupwara, and Gulmarg also recorded temperatures below normal during this period, according to the MeT office.
