With an aim to highlight the burning issues of General public regarding poor power supply position in Jammu city, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor JMc along with Sh. Raj Kumar Chairman public Health & Sanitation Committee, Sh. Ajay Gupta Chairman Social Justice Committee today projected Major issues of PDD which are being faced by the citizens of Jammu in this hot weather conditions.
  Addressing to Media persons, Mayor told that during his routine tour of various wards of the city alongwith concerned councillors, general public besides raising the issues of construction of drains/ lanes, better sanitation which belongs to JMC also put forth problems which they are facing on daily basis regarding shortage of power & water supply, pouring of electricity bills in their names bearing huge amount, frequent power cuts in their localities and other related issues which pertains to PDD before their elected representatives because they are easily approachable to them.
He further said that the issue of water supply has been resolved to some extent due to transfer of Jal Shakti Deptt. (Urban) to JMC but in order to minimize the sufferings of citizens of Jammu regarding PDD which is not the domain of JMC, Sh. Shiv Anant Tayal Managing Director JPDCL alongwith Xen’s, AEE’s of Jammu City were called in the office of Mayor at Town Hall, Jammu the other day where Deputy Mayor, all the three Chairpersons, Councillors of various wards of old Jammu city, Madam Avny Lavasa Commissioner JMC were also present & raised these vital issues strongly in one voice before the Managing Director, JPDCL & his team.
Installation of Smart Meters were opposed until the proper infrastructure/ cabling is done, unscheduled power cuts be stopped which also affects the water supply in the whole locality. Major relief be provided to the consumers who have been imposed heavy electricity bills by way of settlement & amnesty scheme/ monthly instalments, a foolproof infrastructure be developed to protect the electricity transformers from getting damaged/ burnt on certain occasions, illegal power connections whether residential or commercial be thoroughly checked & disconnected.The MD JPDCL has assured that the genuine issues of the general public regarding PDD will be resolved on top priority. He also appraised that in order to provide some relief to the people of Jammu during the ongoing summer season, Sh. Manoj Sinha Ji Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K U.T has recently inaugurated 06 Power Infrastructure Projects costing Rs. 64.10 crores, adding another 660 MVA capacity to the existing power system. Gladni Grid Station-the Gateway of Electric Power to J&K witnesses long-due capacity augmentation of 400 MVA after almost 14 years which includes in transmission sector New 400 MVA Transformer installed and commissioned at 220 KV Level in Gladni.(Cost: Rs. 32.5 Cr), Augmentation of Grid Station Barn at 220/132/33 KV Level from 2x160 MVA to 3x160 MVA.(Cost: Rs. 21.72 Cr), New 50 MVA Transformer installed and commissioned at 132 KV Level in Gladni.(Cost: Rs. 12.36 Cr), New 50 MVA Transformer installed and commissioned at 132 KV Level in the industrial area of BB-1.(Cost: Rs. 6.48 Cr), Augmentation of Grid Station Jourian at 132/33 KV Level from 20 MVA to 50 MVA.(Cost: Rs. 4.31 Cr), Augmentation of Grid Station Akhnoor at 132/33 KV Level from 20 MVA to 50 MVA.(Cost: Rs. 4.87 Cr), Augmentation of Grid Station Canal at 132/33 KV Level from 2x50 MVA to 3x50 MVA.(Cost: Rs. 3.58 Cr) and in distribution sector at 33 KV Level, 68 Nos of New Sub-Stations has been Created/ Augmented under different Schemes viz. PMDP-Urban/PMDP-Rural/DDUGJY/IPDS with total capacity addition of 517.70 MVA and at 11 KV Level, 1141 Nos of New DT Sub-Stations has been Created/Augmented under different Schemes viz. PMDP-Urban/PMDP-Rural/DDUGJY/IPDS with total capacity addition of 130.56 MVA.
 These projects will benefits more than six lacs population of Jammu. Additional capacity augmentation at Gladni & station will ensure quality power to several areas of Jammu city. Mayor also told that after the sincere & hectic efforts of all the councilors of JMC who time & again projected the vital issue of power crises at various platforms with the concerned authorities as well as with Union Power Minister of India and at last this much needed & long pending demands regarding strengthening of power supply infrastructure has been resolved to some extent.
