Jammu and Kashmir Police Director General Dilbag Singh on Sunday after the recovery of 5-kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) said that the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operative received the explosives in Jammu to carry terror attacks.
"An IED of 5 to 6 kg weight was recovered by Jammu police and it was received by the LeT outfit operative and was to planted at some crowded place.
He said that a major terror attack has been averted with this recovery. "The suspect lifted being interrogated and more suspects likely to be picked up in this case," said the police chief.
The top cop said that police is also working on Jammu airfield blasts along with other agencies. "Use of drone with payload in both the blasts at Jammu airfield suspected to drop the explosive material," he said.
Police have registered FIR and investigation is on, said the DGP. The case has been registered under FIR Number 170/2021 under sections 3/4 Explosive Act, 13/16/18/23 ULA 120 B IPC at Police Station Satwari, Jammu.
Jammu Police have foiled a major terror attack by arresting a terrorist with (IED) in the Narwal area here on the city outskirts.
The Special Operation Group team on Saturday evening have arrested a terrorist with explosives. "The terrorist was arrested from near a prominent shopping Mall with arms, ammunition, and five-kg IED," the officer said.
He said that a major terror plot in Jammu City has been averted with timely arrest. "The terrorist has immediately whisked away to a safe house for sustained interrogation to ascertain whether their other contacts have also managed to sneak into Jammu or not," he added.
