Jammu and Kashmir is currently reeling under huge power shortage because of which the power cuts have increased in both Jammu and Kashmir. There is shortfall of 500 MW of power in Jammu and same is the situation in Kashmir. The situation has arisen since the hydro power projects in the Ut have reduced production due to low water levels.
The Baglihar Phase-2 power plant has stopped generation due to low water level because of which there is a 500 MW shortfall of power.
As per sources of The Publish the UT government has intervened and has asked for additional power from Northern Grid. The issue shall be resolved on 1st October as per sources and UT government will get additional 400 MW of power for J&K. 200 MW shall be utilised for Jammu and 200 MW shall be utilised for Kashmir.
