The J&K government has of late ordered for inquiry against 10 police officers including Sr. Superintendent of Police (SSP) in terms of Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. 

As per the news agency  the J&K Home Department in its official communique directed to the UT’s Director General of Police (DGP) to initiate inquiry against 10 J&K police men 
 in terms of Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 r/w sections 409, 468, 467, 471, 120-B, IPC (PV No.06/2023) EOW, Crime Branch, Srinagar. 

The ten police officers/officials, as per the communique, are SSP Zubair Ahmad Khan, ASP Farhat Jeelani, Retd. Dy. SP Mushtaq Ahmad, SI Nissar Ahmad, HC Abdul Rashid, HC Fareed Ahmad, Sg.Ct. Bilal Ahmad, Sg.Ct. Najam-ul-Gani, Ct. Syed Tasweer and Ct. Tawseef Ahmad. 

If sources are to be believed the above-mentioned policemen were allegedly involved in misappropriations of petrol/diesel meant for the police vehicles, thus inflicting losses to the concerned department.
