A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) named Sheikh Aadil Mushtaq (KPS) was arrested by the Srinagar police.
The arrest followed a search conducted at his residence near BSNL exchange Sanathnagar Srinagar earlier in the week, during which documents, a laptop, and other electronic devices were seized.
The officer was questioned in connection with a case, and subsequently, he was formally arrested under FIR no 149 of 2023.
The charges against him include sections 167, 193, 201, 210, 218, 221 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 7 and 7A of the Corruption Act.
Further investigation is underway at Nowgam police station.
