JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla today today expressed dismay over the paucity of essentials in J&K saying the administration seems to have turned blind eye to the woes of people. This was stated by former Minister while interacting with aggrieved people of Rajiv Nagar,New Plot,Janipur,Bhour Pind on Thursday. Prominent among those present on the occasion include JKPCC Vice President Kanta Bhan, District General Secretary Raj Kumar Meenia, District Secretary Vijay Kumar Sharma, Sunil Kumar Sharma,Ashok Sharma,Yahpal Sagral, Ajay Kumar, Subash Chander,Dharminder Bhardwaj,Koushalya Devi, Tilak Raj Kalotra, Sunil Kumar, Narayan Dass, Yashpal Kalsi, Anil Gupta, Yashpal Thapa, Jyotika Gupta, Atul Kumar besides others.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that there was a crisis like situation in J&K due to unavailability of the basic essentials and the administration has failed to live up to its obligation of ensuring people all basic civic amenities and essentials. He said the curtailment of water and power supply has compounded the woes of people across Jammu and Kashmir due to the ongoing summer season. “Administration has also failed to have an anticipatory price control mechanism in its strategy to deal with the exorbitant price rise of basic commodities. The absence of administration on ground has emboldened the willfulness of wrongdoers, he added.
Bhalla further said that undergoing inflation of food, vegetables, and other items has inadvertently hit the pockets of the lower middle class and middle class evenly. We expect the administration to wake from the slumber and ensure that people don’t have to suffer any further. It is the primary duty of the administration to check price rise. In addition to that the divisional and the district administration should ensure affordable rates of all essentials.Drawing the attention of the administration towards the plight of people due to the prolonged and unscheduled power cuts, Bhalla said that the power infrastructure continues to be in shambles at various places particularly in far-flung areas .
Bhalla stressed on protecting the secular countenance of the country from the dangers of communalism and hate politics. He said secularism is one of the philosophical pillars of our party and in contemporary times the idea of secularism is of utmost relevance as new clouds of fears, apprehensions and uncertainties are gathering over the nation’s social horizon. I see no way of achieving anything in J&K without a lasting unity between different sections of our society. He said, “communal frenzy has no place in this globalized world. Societies which are infested with communalism cannot grow. People have to keep guard against attempts at inciting passions on religious issues, especially in the run up for elections.
Bhalla further added, “To undo injustices perpetrated on them, the people of J&K have to forge solidarities irrespective of their caste, creed, religion and region. The people of J&K are facing similar issues in the form of unemployment, inflation and poverty. These formidable challenges require us to work together in the right direction.”Extolling people of Jammu and Kashmir for their secular legacy and which is being celebrated for its historical and traditional amity, Bhalla said: “The need of the hour is to strengthen this heirloom of brotherhood and unity, which we have inherited from our ancestors.
Bhalla observed that BJP was celebrating its nine-year rule “quite unmindful” of the sentiment of the people of the Union Territory and BJP leadership continues to indulge in self-adulation and unmindful drum beating,” he added. Bhalla said that the demotion of the State to the level of a UT has been the “most horrible dent on the pride of the people of J&K”. “Rather than restoring the statehood, the BJP leadership continues to bully and nag those who seek status quo ante,” he said. The people have been deprived of a democratic government and subjected to Bureaucratic rule of outside bureaucrats having hardly any connect with the common masses, he said.
Bhalla claimed that people are suffering for want of basic civil amenities. There is none to listen to the shrill cries of poor, marginalized classes especially in rural areas seeking adequate power, water supply, medicare and power connectivity. The unemployed youth are on roads and the daily wagers and contractual without wages for several months and even years with an apathetic regime averse to their woes. Resentment against Govt is at its peak against rising prices which have made the lives of people miserable. But still, the BJP is in celebration mode,” Bhalla exclaimed.
