*FSL confirms rape of 3-year-old Sumbal girl*

The  Investigation Team (SIT), has almost completed its investigation into the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl child in Sumbal area of Bandipora district as the (Forensic Science Laboratory) has established the crime even after the team of doctors had left certain deficiency in the medical report.

it is learnt from well-placed knowledgeable sources that the SIT, comprising Sub Divisional Police Officer of Sumbal and a Senior Prosecuting Officer, has almost completed its investigation into the FIR filed with Police Station Sumbal following allegations of the rape of a three-year-old girl in Trigam village.

According to these sources, SIT would be filing Challan in a court of law in the next few days.

On May 10, allegations had poured in from Sumbal that a 20-year-old Tahir Ahmad Mir had committed rape on a three-year-old girl on May 8.

It led to violent protests and demonstrations in Sumbal-Pattan area which spilled over to Baramulla, Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama and Anantnag districts.

One protestor of Cheenabal village, namely Irshad, was hit by a teargas shell that left him critically injured and subsequently he died at a hospital in Srinagar.

Sources revealed that the team of doctors that conducted examination of the alleged victim had left “certain deficiencies” in its medical report and made the whole exercise suspectful.

However, the SIT, with the sustained coordination with FSL, worked on circumstantial evidences and other witnesses and established that the crime had taken place at the hands of the accused who continues to be in detention.

Meanwhile, the father of the accused had given a twist to the whole episode, claiming that he had sold off his house to his neighbour who, rather than paying him the second instalment of money, levelled baseless allegation of the rape of his young daughter against the property seller’s son.

In yet another twist, Principal of a school in the same village had reportedly issued a fake Date of Birth Certificate which described the accused as a 10-year-old child.

However, during the investigation, Police proved the accused as 20-year-old and proceeded with the investigation.

In the wake of uproar in half of the Valley, J&K High Court too took a suo motu cognisance and directed SSP Bandipora to submit a detailed report.
